December/January Mystery Book Commercial Calendar
Mystery Book Commercial Rubric
Fantasy Book Commercial Rubric
We will be reading so many wonderful books this year and we would like to share them with each other. Each month your child will be presenting one book commercial to our class from a genre chosen by the teacher. The goal of the commercial is to get readers excited about a book author, series, or genre.
The time limit will be no less than one minute and no more than two minutes. The commercial will be presented without being read.
The first genre will be fantasy. (Fantasy: A story including elements that are impossible such as talking animals or magical powers.) Your child’s assigned presentation day is attached to this note, as well as a list of possible titles. Please write it on your family calendar now so your child does not miss his/her day. I will not be reminding him/her ahead of time.
In the mean time, your child has plenty of time to choose a book and practice his/her presentation and delivery. During practice, please encourage your child to speak loudly and clearly without reading the commercial.
The commercials are supposed to be lots of fun and very low pressure. It’s a way to share one of our favorite books with some of our best friends. Please see the guide “How to Advertise a Good Book” on back of this note for more information. The bottom two sections will be used as a rubric for grading.
If you have any questions, please let me know.

Mrs.Gilbert I love to do book commcreil’s they are so fun!
Hi Lisa, I was looking at the book commercial calendar and wanted to confirm that Caleb’s commercial is next Wed. the 16th, not the 6th as the calendar shows. We are behind on this one – Caleb is going to have to really work hard to complete this on time. He’s having a hard time deciding who he’s doing his report on. Either the Wright Bros with Jack or Thomas Edison. He’ll talk to you about this this morning.
Love Ericka
Hi Lisa,
Caleb told me last night that his biography is due this Friday. I had on my calendar that he will be doing his report on February 5th. Is that correct?
He brought his book with him today. He chose to do his report on Wayne Gretzky.
Thanks
!!! Have a fabulous day!
